DUBAI: Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Minister Savannah Maziya has projected that the Kingdom of Eswatini’s digital transformation will be realized within two years.

The minister revealed this as a panellist under the topic: “Is the world ready for the next wave of digital disruption?” at the World Governments Summit on Tuesday.

The minister’s assurances are consistent with His Majesty the King’s call for the Kingdom’s Transformation, which he made during the annual national prayer service at Mandvulo Grand Hall which formed his theme for the Speech from the Throne recently.

Maziya told the summit that the Kingdom of Eswatini last year signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Arab Emirates to learn from their expertise and take advantage of their well-developed information technology and innovation sector.

“Following from this agreement, we then engaged in a programme to train teachers and some legal personnel to teach our young people and further gain valuable legal know-how.”

“We are looking forward to rolling out a countrywide programme, that will see about 300 000 EmaSwati receive coding skills training and tech academies that will be established through the Royal Science and Technology Park,” the minister said.

She said the Kingdom of Eswatini is optimistic about being one of the leading countries in the provision of e-services through their “Government in your Hand” initiative.
