Pigg’s Peak Police make E600 000 drug bust in Bulandzeni

The REPS in Pigg’s Peak have reported a major drug-related arrest following a successful operation on the morning of February 19, 2025.

Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Chief Police Information and Communication Officer announced that a 36-year-old man from Bulandzeni is now facing serious charges for possession of an illegal substance.

At approximately 0600 hours, police acted on intelligence received about drug activities in the area.

Officers searched the suspect’s residence in Bulandzeni, where they discovered a staggering 499.1 kilograms of dagga, also known as marijuana, with a street value of E600 000, stored without any appropriate license or permit.

This significant quantity of the substance raises suspicions about the potential for distribution and trafficking within the community.

“This is a notable seizure that underscores our commitment to combating drug-related crimes in our region.

The possession of this amount of dagga is not only illegal but poses a serious threat to our community’s safety and wellbeing,” stated Senior Superintendent Vilakati during the press briefing.

The suspect was promptly arrested and is expected to face charges in local courts for possession of an illegal drug, with authorities emphasizing that they will pursue the case vigorously.

The police are also encouraging residents who have information related to drug activities to come forward and assist in promoting a safer environment.
