Popular businessman, socialite Jomo Nkamble brutally murdered

Popular Mbabane Businessman and Socialite Jomo Nkambule has passed on after being brutally hacked in a suspected robbery.

The incident, which has left his family devastated and demanding justice, happened at Gobholo on Sunday evening.

A close relative narrated that Nkambule, who was in the company of his younger brother, was attacked by a group of men who had blocked the road while imbibing what is believed to have been alcoholic beverages.

The duo was allegedly forcefully pulled out of the car beaten with open fists, kicked and hacked with bush knives as the suspects demanded cash and belongings which were forcefully taken away from the pair.

“We have lost a valuable and very helpful family member due to an attack by criminals who just decided to block the road and rob people of their valuables,” the sobbing relative said.

The relative went on to disclose that the deceased from Mpolonjeni succumbed to death at Mbabane Government Hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday while fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to the serious injuries sustained during the attack which sent shockwaves across the Msunduza community.

The relative went on to mention that the brother of the late businessman who was the Director of Eputukezi Quantity Surveyors was still receiving medical treatment at the Mbabane Government Hospital at the time of compiling this report.

Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Chief Police Information and Communication Officer (PICO) Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed that one of the two men who were attacked at Gobholo has since passed on while undergoing treatment.

Vilakati said no arrests had been made but the police were continuing with their investigations.

No immediate comment could be obtained from senior members of the Nkambule family by the time of going to print.
