The Eswatini Corruption Commission has pounced on yet another civil servant within the Ministry of Home Affairs Busiswa Sibiya who allegedly offering to produce a national Identity Document (ID) and birth certificate without following the laid down procedure
The accused, who served as Regional Civil Registrar, appeared before Mbabane Senior Magistrate Sifiso Vilakati on Wednesday.
Sibiya who has been employed by the ministry for over 15 years pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her.

In the first count, it has been alleged that the accused contravened section 42 of the Prevention of Corruption Act No.3 of 2006 in that upon or about March 4, 2023 at or near Lobamba acting in her capacity as a Regional Civil Registrar did unlawfully and directly or indirectly give and /or agree and/or offer to give Sonkhe Magongo the advantage for registration of a personal ID (9702106100946) which amounted to an abuse of her position of authority.
It has been claimed that such an act warranted to a breach of trust or an act which amounted to violation of her legal duty or set of rules therefore contravening the Prevention of Corruption Act.
In the second count, it has been alleged that Sibiya directly or indirectly offered to use her position of authority to produce a birth certificate for Magongo.
The accused was granted bail by Vilakati amounting to E3 000. The trial date was set for May 15, 2025.
Reliable sources within the Anti-Corruption Commission informed Eswatini Daily News that another warrant of arrest had been issued to an Immigration Officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs that was also linked to the offence.

According to documents seen by this publication, the officer directly or indirectly offered to register a birth certificate for Magongo as well.
Therefore, she was accused of having breached the Prevention of Corruption Act by violating her legal duty and set of rules.
Sources claimed that on the run immigration officer has allegedly skipped the country.
