His Majesty King Mswati III has officially launched the construction of a E192 million Eswatini Dairy Board distribution centre at Sikhuphe, marking a significant step in the country’s agricultural and trade sectors.

The King conducted the sod-cutting ceremony at the site near King Mswati III International Airport, signifying his blessing for the project.

This was part of the King’s Wednesday tour, during which he visited the Hlane stadium for the Buganu Ceremony, the Hlane Hotel, and the Hlane Reptile Park.

The facility will serve as a distribution centre warehouse, where the country’s agricultural produce, including meats from different livestock, will be stored before being imported and exported to various international markets.

This project is expected to enhance Eswatini’s trade efficiency by reducing logistical challenges that farmers and businesses currently face.

The facility’s strategic location near the airport will ensure that perishable goods, such as dairy products and meats, are properly stored and transported quickly, minimizing spoilage and delays.

The efficiency of air transport over road freight will further boost Eswatini’s export capabilities, allowing local businesses to compete better in the global market.

The E192 million investment underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and improving food security.

The distribution centre is anticipated to create employment opportunities during and after construction, benefiting the local economy and enhancing the livelihoods of many emaSwati.

His Majesty has, over the years, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in supporting economic growth and trade expansion.

With construction set to commence soon, stakeholders in agriculture and trade eagerly anticipate the project’s completion, hoping it will transform the way Eswatini handles its agricultural exports and imports.
