The Kingdom of Eswatini’s partnership with the Republic of China (Taiwan) has once again delivered major strides for the nation’s healthcare system.

On Friday, Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula expressed deep gratitude to the Taiwanese government following the donation of medical equipment valued at approximately E12 million.

The handover was officiated by Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Lin Chia-Lung, during his working visit to the Kingdom.

Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Matsebula applauded Taiwan’s consistent and wide-ranging contributions to Eswatini’s health sector over the years.

He reflected on the enduring friendship between the two countries, noting that it has been a relationship marked by quality and mutual benefit.

He outlined the various forms of support Taiwan has provided, which include significant improvements to health infrastructure, ongoing medical training programs, donations of critical medical equipment,

community outreach activities targeting non-communicable diseases, provision of specialist medical care, donations of essential drugs, and ambulances.

Minister Matsebula emphasized the importance of the new donation to the Mbabane Government Hospital, one of the country’s largest referral hospitals.

He assured the Taiwanese government that all efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Health are aimed at ensuring that every liSwati benefits, regardless of their financial standing.

Matsebula said the Ministry remains committed to overcoming daily challenges that hinder healthcare service delivery and is optimistic about the future, especially with the unwavering support of the Taiwanese government.

In his remarks, Matsebula warmly thanked the visiting Special Envoy and the people of Taiwan, describing Taiwan as a true and good friend to Eswatini.

He stressed that Taiwan’s support is directly aligned with His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision for a transformed and accessible health sector.

The Minister concluded by expressing confidence that, with Taiwan’s continued assistance, Eswatini will achieve its health development goals and build a more resilient and equitable healthcare system for all.
