Eswatini showcases women’s empowerment initiatives at Taiwan Development Forum

The Kingdom of Eswatini has taken centre stage at the 30th Anniversary celebrations of the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) in the Republic of China (Taiwan),

where the country is showcasing its growing commitment to women’s economic empowerment, enterprise development and international collaboration.

Leading the country’s delegation is the Minister for Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, who is representing Eswatini at the three-day anniversary event taking place from June 30 to July 2, 2026.

He is accompanied by the Director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Mluleki Dlamini.

During the opening interview session, the minister showcased Eswatini’s commitment to empowering women through programmes designed to improve financial inclusion and strengthen entrepreneurship.

He highlighted the Women Micro Finance Revolving Fund, which is implemented through Kuyenteka Savings and Credit Cooperatives,

as one of the government’s key initiatives aimed at expanding access to affordable finance for women entrepreneurs.

The minister also outlined the Khutsalamfati capacity building initiative, which works alongside the revolving fund by equipping women with business and entrepreneurial skills needed to establish, manage and grow their enterprises.

According to the minister, the two programmes are creating opportunities for women entrepreneurs by improving access to affordable finance, supporting the growth of small businesses,

creating employment opportunities and contributing to inclusive economic development.

He noted that empowering women through access to finance and capacity-building initiatives remains an important component of Eswatini’s efforts to strengthen the micro, small and medium enterprise sector.

During the interview, Khumalo also reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between Eswatini and the Republic of China (Taiwan),

describing it as one that continues to support development initiatives in various sectors.

He highlighted the importance of international cooperation in advancing enterprise development, promoting women’s economic empowerment and supporting sustainable national prosperity.
