Prime Minister Russell Dlamini departed for the Republic of China (Taiwan), where he will represent His Majesty King Mswati III and the Kingdom of Eswatini at the Ketagelan Forum: 2026 Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue in Taipei.
The Prime Minister left through King Mswati III International Airport, where he was seen off by Cabinet ministers and Taiwan’s Ambassador to Eswatini, Jeremy Liang, underscoring the importance attached to the visit by both governments.
The Ketagelan Forum is an international platform that brings together heads of government, policymakers, security experts and strategic partners to deliberate on emerging regional and global security challenges, peace, stability and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. 
During the visit, Dlamini is expected to hold high-level bilateral talks with Taiwan President Lai Ching-te and other senior government officials.
The discussions are anticipated to focus on strengthening the longstanding diplomatic relations between Eswatini and Taiwan, while exploring new opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The PM will also tour several mega development projects in Taiwan as part of efforts to gain first-hand insight into the country’s achievements in infrastructure, technology and industrial development.
The visits are expected to identify best practices that could support Eswatini’s own development agenda.
Eswatini and Taiwan have enjoyed decades of close diplomatic ties, with Taiwan remaining one of the Kingdom’s key development partners.
Through the partnership, Taiwan has supported numerous initiatives in agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment.
The Prime Minister’s participation in the forum highlights Eswatini’s commitment to engaging with the international community on issues of peace,
security and sustainable development while further consolidating relations with one of its longest-standing allies.
