Jacob Zuma calls for an end to violence in Eswatini, encourages dialogue

Former South African President Jacob Zuma has implored emaSwati to stop fighting among themselves and to focus on resolving any differences through dialogue.

The charismatic Zuma was speaking at Mandvulo Grand Hall at Lozitha on Saturday during the national prayer. Zuma was His Majesty King Mswati III’s special guest.

Zuma expressed that what is happening in Eswatini where the killing of each other is escalating pains him because he regards emaSwati as a peace-loving nation. The former President said emaSwati must try to refrain from solving issues with arms because such have devastating results as many people will lose their lives.

Zuma said he understands that some people have been killed but wondered why that has happened because emaSwati are renowned for being peace-loving. Zuma warned emaSwati that trying to solve differences through arms brings irreparable harm.

“I was happy to hear pastors preaching that emaSwati should unite and come together. If there is a problem, they should come to a round table and talk to find lasting solutions,” Zuma said.

He then urged pastors to come together and convene to discuss how they can preach the message of oneness and peace among the people they are leading in their different churches.

It is Zuma’s second time joining the King and emaSwati in the national prayer. He graced the event even last year. In his parting shot, Zuma thanked His Majesty for the initiative of organizing the national prayer, to seek God’s grace and guidance as the year begins.
