Lasuka lahlala (It’s game on)!
The MTN Premier League 2026/27 season was officially launched on Wednesday, with the kick-off set for Saturday. The launch was held at MTN Eswatini’s Mahlalekhukhwini House in Ezulwini.
This is where supporters were officially invited to fill the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba for the appertising grand opening fixtures Capital City giants Mbabane Highlanders AM take on Green Mamba at 2pm, preceding another explosive fixture pitting Moneni Pirates against defending champions Nsingizini Hotspurs at 4pm.
“We hope MTN Eswatini will come with fantastic activities that will excite football fans and offer
opportunities to win big during the league games. As the season commences, we would like to once again appeal for vigorous marketing strategies that would bring more spectators into our games.
“The staggering E7.5 million prize money for this season’s edition, means clubs have to be at their best to win the big prize,” said PLE Chairman Polycarp Dlamini.
He acknowledged the MTN FanBox innovation and encouraged supporters to make use of it as it provided prizes for Best Dressed Fans among others.
Dlamini said they were positioning the PLE to be the perfect corporate partner, encouraging clubs to ensure a violent-free season if they are to achieve this mission.
MTN Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jerry Soko also appealed for a season of enjoyment as opposed to violence during matches.

“Bring your passion and sportsmanship. As MTN we are about bringing more people closer to the stadium and that means bringing excitement to the fans,” said the CEO.
Soko referred to the MTN FanBox where fans also get to vote for the Man of the Match, Player of the Month, Player of the Series and Best Dressed Fans among other benefits.
He reiterated the company’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Meshack Maseko’s words that the MTN FanBox should be an asset for all fans as it even had trivia games and special youth bundles for 25-year-olds and below.
Meanwhile, the launch was also attended by the grand opening teams being Mbabane Highlanders, Green Mamba, Moneni Pirates and defending champions Nsingizini Hotspurs. Their spokespersons represented them.
PLE Executive Committee member Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo and Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu as well PLE staff including Brand, Sponsorship and Marketing Manager Nqobile Simelane were also among those who witnessed the launch.
