A 58-year-old man from Tincumatsini, Shewula, has been arrested and charged in connection with a stock theft case after a Honda Fit loaded with a cow carcass was found abandoned in the Mhlume area.
The suspect was apprehended at about 8:15 pm on September 29 at Shewula following an intelligence-led operation, according to police.
The incident dates back to September 28, when traffic officers who were conducting patrols reportedly spotted a stationary Honda Fit with two occupants inside.
Police said the officers approached the vehicle, prompting the driver to speed away. The officers then pursued the vehicle, but the occupants eventually abandoned the Honda Fit in the Mhlume area and fled on foot.

The vehicle was subsequently found with a cow carcass inside, leading to investigations into the suspected stock theft.
One of the two suspects has since been arrested, while the second suspect remains at large.
The 58-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Siteki Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he will face the stock theft charge.
Police said investigations into the matter are continuing, with the arrested suspect also being investigated for possible links to other stock theft cases.
