The Eswatini National Fire, Rescue and Emergency Service presented tetfulo valued at E70,000, comprising five cows, to Their Majesties King Mswati III and the Queen during the Third National Fire Day celebration at Matsapha International Airport.

Three cows were presented to His Majesty the King, while two were for Her Majesty the Queen. The presentation formed part of the proceedings attended by Their Majesties, government representatives and other dignitaries during the national commemoration.

The event provided an opportunity to recognise the service’s contribution to protecting lives and property across the Kingdom. For 51 years, the service has played a role in responding to fires and other emergencies, making emergency preparedness and public safety important priorities for the country.

The commemoration also highlighted the importance of fire prevention and the dedication required of personnel who respond to emergencies. Through its work, the service contributes to protecting communities and limiting the impact of incidents that threaten lives and property.

… Housing Minister calls for greater public responsibility in fire prevention
Minister for Housing and Urban Development Apollo Maphalala has called on emaSwati, businesses and communities to take greater responsibility for fire prevention, saying public awareness and responsible behaviour are key to protecting lives and property.

Speaking during the Third National Fire Day celebration at Matsapha International Airport, Maphalala stressed that preventing fires required the active participation of the public, alongside the efforts of the Eswatini National Fire, Rescue and Emergency Service.

He said sustained public education was important in helping communities understand fire risks and adopt safer practices. He urged emaSwati to remain alert and work together with firefighters to prevent incidents and reduce damage to property and the environment.
Maphalala said the success of the service should not be measured only by the number of fires extinguished or emergencies attended. He said equal importance should be placed on lives saved, disasters prevented and communities protected.
