E60 000 major boost for Sihlangu players

By Sibusiso Masilela

Sihlangu players are set to strike it rich following the 3-0 win over Somalia in the 2025 AFCON Qualifier on Wednesday.

The 20 players from the national team will share E60 000 following their emphatic victory over the East Africans in Morocco.

Each player stands to take home E3 000 as per the Eswatini Football Association bonuses policy. A total of 18 players from the 20-member squad will further get an E 3 500 training allowance after spending 14 days at training before the recent match, excluding international players in Justice Figaredo and Mxolisi Mkhonto. The duo joined the entire squad en route to Morocco.

The current training allowance rate is E250 per session.

The bonuses could increase to E120 000 if the squad manages to beat the same opposition during the return leg scheduled for March 26, 2024, at Mbombela Stadium, South Africa.

A source close to the matter revealed that the players will strike it rich after the preliminary round tie.
“Each player is now entitled to E3 000 following the Somalia win and they will get the bonuses after the preliminary round tie,” the source said.

Eswatini Football Association Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said he was not privy to comment on the disbursement of allowances.

“This is an administrative matter between the association and the squad, which is usually discussed during the General Assembly under the financial report,” he said.

Sihlangu is expected to return home (SA) on Friday following the trip to the oil-rich North African country.
