Prime Minister Russell Dlamini recently welcomed a courtesy visit from the Chargé d’affaires of the United States Embassy in Eswatini, Caitlin Piper.

Piper was accompanied by Political/Economic Officer Chris Wall. The meeting, held on Monday.

The Prime Minister shared on his Facebook page that among the key topics addressed during the meeting were the fundamental principles of democracy, human rights, respect for sovereignty, and the shared commitment to combating corruption and terrorism.

The Prime Minister expressed the importance of upholding these values as essential pillars of governance, highlighting Eswatini’s dedication to promoting democratic ideals and protecting human rights within its borders.

Additionally, it was shared that the Prime Minister and the US diplomatic representatives delved into the intricacies of diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan), where they recognized the complexities and sensitivities surrounding this issue.

During the meeting, both parties explored potential areas of collaboration that align with the government of Eswatini’s overarching goal of uniting and building the nation, as articulated during the recent Sibaya People’s Parliament.

These areas include supporting wealth creation, stimulating economic growth, advancing energy initiatives, and leveraging technology for development purposes.

The Premier further made emphasis on the government’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral and diplomatic ties with the United States, where he emphasized the nation’s status as a valuable development partner.

Since Eswatini gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1968, the bilateral relations between the United States and Eswatini have remained strong and amicable.

Over the years, both nations have strengthened a relationship built on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared interests.

The enduring partnership has facilitated collaboration across various sectors, including trade, education, healthcare, and governance.



As strategic allies, the United States and Eswatini continue to work together to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
