John Chiluba seems to have taken the adage ‘Age is just a number’ way too seriously as the 51-year-old was caught drunk driving this week near St Marks High School.
The accused was charged with the offense of contravening section 91 (5) as read with Section 122 (2) of the Road Traffic Act 6 of 2007.
That on May 14, 2024, at about 2205 hours near the St Marks area, the said accused being the driver of motor vehicle USD 476 AH,
A Toyota RAV4 sedan did wrongfully and unlawfully drive the said motor vehicle along Mhovane Public Road whilst under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug having a narcotic effect alcohol content 0.75mg/1) and exceeded the legal limit of 0.38mg/1 and thus contravened the above-cited Act.
He was fined E2000 or spent 10 months in prison, in his mitigation he apologized and cited that he was a first-time offender and would never drive under the influence.

Chiluba was also charged with the offense of contravening section 23 (1) as read with Section 122 (7) of the Road Traffic Act 6 of 2007, In that on the same night he failed to produce his driver’s license and thus he contravened the above-cited Act.
Meanwhile, Nkambule Mandla 44 years of age from Msunduza was charged with the offence of contravening section 91 (5) as read with Section 122 (2) of the Road Traffic Act 6 of 2007.
On May 14, 2024, at the new Four-Square traffic lights, the said accused the driver of motor vehicle XSD 934 BM,
A BMW sedan wrongfully and unlawfully driving the said motor vehicle along Jekwa Public Road whilst under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug having a narcotic effect (alcohol content 1.11mg/l) and exceeded the legal limit of 0.38mg/l and thus contravened the above-cited Act.
He was fined E 2000 or spent 24 months in prison.
In the same court, Nsizwa Winston Sewele was charged with the offense of contravening section 7 as read with a section of Opium and Habit-Forming Drugs Act no 37 of 1992 as amended, in that on May 14, 2024, he was found in the possession of Dagga.

This was at the exit point at Ngwenya Border Post, where he was grabbed carrying a Dagga weighing 16 grams without a valid permit or licence he was fined E2000 or 24 months in prison.
Another was held in for theft, Sboniso Nkambule is said to have on May 10, 2024, near Mbabane Yemfo bar the accused person did wrongfully,
unlawfully Intentionally steal money in cash amounting to E1000.00 the property of or in the lawful possession of Bongani Dlamini and did commit the offense of theft.
He appeared before Magistrate Innocent Motsa and was fined E2000 or 24 months in prison.
