Man rapes woman at knife-point

A 20-year-old man from Langeni has been remanded in custody for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman.

Emmanuel Ngcebo Dlamini is charged with the offence of contravening sections 3(1), 3(2), and 3(3)(d) of Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act of 15/2018

That upon or at about June 9, 2024, at about 03: 00 hours at or near the Elangeni area in the district of Hhohho the accused person, did wrongfully and unlawfully have sexual intercourse with one *Sihle, 21 years once without a condom and thus did thereby contravene the said Act.

The crown handling the case took, further notice that this offence was accompanied by aggravating factors as envisaged by section 185 bis of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act 67/1938 as amended in that:

The accused person did not use a condom thus exposing the victim to the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections including HIV and AIDS.

“Take notice further that in the event of conviction, your particulars will be included in the National Register for Sex Offenders. The accused’s legal right to legal representation was explained and the accused elected to conduct their defence,” read the crown’s application.

The Crown also applied that the matter may be adjourned to July 19, 2024, pending committal at the High Court.

The accused was advised of his constitutional right to bail, and he may go to the High Court to move his application.

In the second count, the said the accused person was charged with the offence of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

In that upon or about June 9, 2024, at or near the Elangeni area in the district of Hhohho the said accused person wrongfully, unlawfully,

and intentionally stabbed one *Sihle with a knife once on the back with the intent to injure the body of the said Sihle, thus contravening the said Act.
