For the third year running, Eswatini’s pool sensation Ncobile ‘S’ncobesh’ Dlamini was crowned the National Blackball Championships 2024 champion in the Women category.

This was on Monday at the Princess Pholile Hall in Malkerns under the Manzini Region.

The ladies senior national team star and captain oozed class, showing a wealth of her international experience as she is based in South Africa where she competes with other top players in the inter scene.

She beat the world’s number one last year in South Africa during the All-Africa Blackball Championships.

Dlamini counted among other categories’ winners who included the high-ranking Manzini Pool Club (MPC) and national team star Sithembiso ‘Dodge’ Matsebula who won the Masters division, Simakhi Magagula who excelled in the juniors under-18 and Mandlenkhosi ‘Starring’ Mabaso.

The latter ruled in the Players living with Disability category which was played in a round robin format.

Meanwhile, the open category where the best of the best in the country get to meet and fight for a place in the senior men’s national team, did not finish.

“We stopped after the last 8 was decided as time was against us. We will announce the last 8 and finals dates,” Eswatini Cue Sports Secretary Mbongeni ‘Mdlikiza’ Gamedze clarified.

The 2024 National Blackball Championships champions per category:

  1. Mandlenkhosi ‘Starring’ Mabaso – Players Living with Disability champion: 12 points
  2. Sinenkhosi Maseko (runner-up to Mabaso): 9 points
  3. Sithembiso ‘Dodge’ Matsebula – Masters champion: 18 points
  4. David ‘Mdavu’ Masuku (runner-up to Matsebula): 15 points
  5. Simakhi Magagula – Juniors Under-18 champion: 18 points
  6. Sandziso Nhlabatsi (runner-up to Magagula): 15 points
  7. Ncobile ‘S’ncobesh’ Dlamini – Women  champion: 18 points
  8. Mbali Dlamini (runner-up to S’ncobesh): 15 points
