A woman from Eswatini has been arrested after she was allegedly found in possession of explosives and guns.
South African Police Service (SAPS) members engaged in Operation Vala Umgodi made the arrest in Barberton.
According to the SAPS, a female suspect from the Kingdom of Eswatini was apprehended for unlawfully possessing four firearms, including three pistols and a shotgun, along with an explosive device.
The incident unfolded during routine patrols at Sinqobile Village, where officers spotted three suspicious males loitering outside a residence.

As the police approached to investigate, the men attempted to flee the scene. Officers then redirected their attention to the house, where they discovered the female suspect.
A thorough search of the premises led to the shocking discovery of four firearms: a Norinco pistol, a Glock, a Z88, and a shotgun.
Officers also found the serial numbers on the three pistols were filed off, raising further concerns about the legality of the weapons.
In addition to the firearms, police confiscated 32 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of dagga. An explosive device was discovered concealed under the bed, prompting immediate safety protocols.
The SAPS has launched a manhunt for the three males who fled the scene, as investigations into the origins of the weapons and potential connections to criminal activities are underway.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the police team for their swift and effective action.
“We are elated that our members possibly prevented the loss of life as a result of these lethal weapons,” said General Mkhwanazi.
This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to maintain public safety and combat illegal firearms in the region.
The SAPS urges anyone with information regarding the escaped suspects to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
