A tragic train accident in Big Bend has resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man from Lubulini, prompting further investigations by the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS).
According to reports from Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the fatal incident occurred on the evening of October 27, at approximately 9:05 pm.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was reportedly sleeping on the railway tracks at Makhulusihlenge when he was struck by the oncoming train.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating and a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise from negligence around transport infrastructure.

Considering this sorrowful incident, the police have urged community members to exercise caution and awareness when near rail lines, reiterating the importance of rail safety.
In a separate incident, police in Simunye are investigating the theft of a valuable motor vehicle: a green and yellow John Deere tractor, registered NSD 032 AL, valued at E830,000.00.

This vehicle was reported stolen just after 2:50 am on the same day it was last seen parked at the Tabankhulu company yard.
The REPS appeals to the public for assistance in recovering the stolen tractor and apprehending those responsible.
