The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) has announced an extension for the submission and payment of Income Tax Returns for VAT-registered businesses for the 2024 tax year.

This was shared in a statement by Acting Director Communications and Marketing Ntobeko Dlamini. Initially set for 31 October 2024, the new deadline has been moved to 16 December 2024 which will offer businesses additional time to meet their tax obligations.

This adjustment aims to ease the burden on enterprises and ensure accurate completion of the necessary returns.

ERS Commissioner General Brightwell Nkambule highlighted the ERS’s dedication to promoting compliance among businesses, emphasizing that the deadline extension serves as a gesture of support.

“This extension reflects our commitment to supporting businesses in their tax compliance journey,” he affirmed.

ERS has encouraged businesses to use this additional time to complete their submissions correctly, avoiding any potential mistakes or oversights.

The extension applies exclusively to VAT-registered businesses, which now have until mid-December to submit their Income Tax returns and make the relevant payments.

However, businesses that have received VAT de-registration notices are required to adhere to the original deadline of 31 October 2024, and any failure to meet this deadline may attract penalties.

Moreover, the ERS has reminded businesses that are either de-registered from VAT or unregistered entirely that they are legally prohibited from charging VAT.

ERS has further urged businesses affected by the extension to take advantage of this window to comply with their tax responsibilities and avoid potential penalties for late submission.

To assist taxpayers further, the ERS has made available multiple channels for queries and clarifications.

Businesses are encouraged to contact Customer Service Consultants directly or use the ERS’s support platforms, including telephone, email, and WhatsApp.

The contact details are as follows:
