A community is in mourning following an incident that occurred early on Sunday morning near the Mahebedla eSigcineni kaMsibi homestead.

A motor vehicle, driven by a 58-year-old local resident, collided with a one-year-old male toddler from the Jubukweni area.

According to Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, Chief Police Information and Communication Officer, the accident happened at approximately 0700 hours.

The young child suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to Mbabane Government Hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The police are investigating the circumstances that led to this devastating accident. The REPS are urging drivers to remain vigilant, especially in residential areas where young children may be present.

This incident has left the community of Mahebedla in shock and grief, as parents come to terms with the dangers that can be posed by road traffic in their neighborhoods.

Residents are calling for increased awareness and measures to enhance road safety, particularly in areas frequented by children.

“We need to come together as a community to ensure the safety of our children,” said a concerned resident. “This tragedy could have been prevented with more caution on the roads.
