Santa must be smiling after hearing the news of Civil Servants getting a once-off payment, a few days before the globally celebrated Christmas Holiday.
In a significant development for public servants, the Joint Negotiations Forum (JNF) has announced a collective agreement to award a one-off payment equal to 1% of the Annual Basic Salary.
This decision, heralded as a boost for workers, is expected to be implemented next month, specifically in December.
The announcement was made by Acting JNF Chairperson Bertram Stewart, who expressed optimism about the agreement, recognising its importance in enhancing the welfare of public servants.
“This agreement reflects our commitment to improving the livelihoods of those who serve the nation diligently,” Stewart stated during the press briefing.

The JNF, a collaborative platform for various stakeholders, reached this consensus after extensive discussions highlighting the challenges public servants face in the current economic climate.
The 1% bonus is seen as a much-needed relief for many who have been affected by rising living costs.
In response to the agreement, the president of the Swaziland Nurses Association (SNA), Mayibongwe Masangane, commended the JNF for its collaborative efforts.
“We are grateful for the successful negotiations that have led to this agreement,” he said.
“It is crucial that the Government processes the receipt of this amount quickly, ensuring the funds reach our public servants without undue delay.”
The timing of this announcement comes at a pivotal moment as many public servants are gearing up for the festive season.
The one-off payment is anticipated to provide a financial boost to families and individuals, helping to offset some of the financial pressures experienced throughout the year.

As December approaches, public servants across the nation are hopeful for the implementation of this agreement.
It serves as a reminder of the importance of dialogue and negotiation in achieving equitable outcomes for workers.
The JNF’s successful agreement shows a commitment to fostering constructive relationships between public sector employees and the government, paving the way for further discussions on sustainable improvements in the future.
It should be noted that as this situation develops, public servants await further details on the payment process but remain optimistic about the positive impact this agreement will have on their financial well being in the lead-up to the holidays.
