In Lavumisa, a 33-year-old woman was brutally killed and then buried in a shallow grave in the Nsalitje No.2 area.

The arrest of a 45-year-old man, a resident of the same location, has brought a spotlight onto the ongoing crisis of violence against women.

According to Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, Chief Police Information and Communication Officer, the arrest was made on February 18th, 2025, at 1535 hours.

The suspect has been charged with murder in connection with the death of the woman, identified as being from Phumelela.
