Lady Action

Minister of Education Lady Howard Mabuza visited a number of schools this week to inspect the damage caused by vandals and arsonists hell bent on destroying the country’s education system.

The visit by the Minister and some members of the Parliament Education portfolio committee was well received and appreciated by the Principals and school committees.

Community members and parents are distraught about the continuing arson attacks on schools. A parent who spoke to EDN reporter said as parents they contributed towards the building and maintenance of the schools. “Whoever is behind this is someone who does not care about the future of our children.”

Rebuilding has commenced at some schools and learners and teachers will be soon having full access to all facilities.

The Minister visited Ndunayithini, Mahamba High School, Ngwane Central Primary, Mavula High School and Longolotjeni amongst others.

Community members said they will continue to work with the police to prevent further attacks so that learners can safely go to school. Police investigations are still ongoing and close sources revealed that some suspects have been arrested and more arrests are imminent.
