His Majesty King Mswati III has officially opened the Fourth Session of the 11th Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini.

His Majesty King Mswati III today officially opened the 4th Session of the 11th Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The King says the year 2022 is the year of transformation.

King Mswati announced a Social Welfare & Dignity cover for the elderly, that will be fully funded by Government in the next financial year.

His Majesty emphasized on water harvesting and food security for the nation. He tasked Government to ensure that Eswatini is energy independent before the expiry of the power supply contract with ESCOM. He said all available power opportunities should be explored like thermal, solar and wind using available green technologies.

His Majesty highlighted that the relaunch of the National Airline will connect Eswatini with the world and thereby help to revive the economy. The King also emphasized the import role of ICT in development.

His Majesty encouraged EmaSwati to pursue and promote peace. “As EmaSwati we have a way of engagement, which is to sit down and dialogue. We now have a Constitution that is a product of National consultation and it also prescribes how to go about making amendments where the need arises. We should not sway from this route.”

His Majesty discouraged the use of force and violence to influence change. “It is not a crime to have diverging views, but engaging in dialogue creates in a better outcome for all” said His Majesty.
