Fuel price drop to reignite December travelling mood

By Sifiso Sibandze

The announced fuel price decrease is set to rekindle the travelling mood which had been dampened by the high prices which have been prevailing since July 2022.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy announced on Wednesday that the Diesel pump price will go down by E2.00 from E24.40 to E22.40, making this economic lifeblood much more affordable than it has ever been. And the petrol price will go down by E1.50 from E21.00 to E19.50 effective Friday, December 23, 2022.

For those driving petrol transmission engine cars like the 40-litre Volkswagen Polo, for a full tank, expect to pay E780 from Friday instead of the E840 you have been paying. This means you will now be saving E60. Refuelling a medium-sized car with 50 litres will cost you E75 less, with the tank costing you E975 from E1050.
