E500 bail for gambling at bus rank

By Bahle Gama

A 50-year-old man has been granted bail fixed at E500 after being arrested for gambling at the Mbabane bus rank.

On Monday, Nkosinathi Dlamini of Pigg’s Peak was arrested and charged with Gambling: contravening Section 7 of the Crimes Act 6 of 1889 in that he wrongfully and unlawfully bet or played a game of cards for a wager or stake.

Making his appearance before Magistrate Lenhle Zulu, Dlamini moved his bail application after the crown stated that it would not be opposing it.

“Your Worship I am currently taking medication hence my application for bail. I undertake to attend all court remand hearings when stipulated,” he said.

Bail was granted on condition that he keeps his promise not to miss court remands, does not interfere with state witnesses, and does not commit a similar offence whilst out of custody.

He is set to return to court on February 17 pending trial on April 4.
