‘Bull’ closing in on local duo

Seasoned strikers Bhekani Mthembu and Mhlengi Mngomezulu are set to join the capital city giants on Wednesday, following a promise by club president Shauwn Mkhize.

The two players were in the books of Green Mamba and Amawele FC respectively.

A source close to the matter revealed that the two players are on their way to the black and white ensemble.
“Mhlengi and Bhekani are on their way to Highlanders. They will start training with the team on Wednesday.

They have both been identified as ideal candidates to bolster the striking force by the technical bench,” the source said.

Highlanders Public Relations Officer Thabiso Manyatsi* could neither confirm nor deny the move when contacted.

“Issues of transfers are being handled by the General Manager [Richard Makhoba] and he hasn’t informed me about any new signings. I can be in a better position to comment once I receive something official. It is true that we might be adding more players to the squad,” he said.

Highlanders recently finished as runners-up in the 2026 8Bet Trade Fair Cup following a penalty shootout loss to Moneni Pirates.

‘Ingwe’ took home E330000 for finishing second in the annual knockout tournament.

The crowd-pullers are now under the guidance of South African coach Floyd Mogale.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach replaced countryman Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala, who is now in charge of Moneni Pirates.

Mkhize is in her second season in charge of the club following last season’s takeover.

Highlanders struggled for goals last season and have prioritized firepower ahead of the new MTN Premier League campaign.

Mthembu and Mngomezulu bring Premier League experience and are expected to partner with the club’s existing forwards.

The arrival of Mogale has also signaled a new era, with the club aiming to end their league title drought.
