Indvuna Yembali Bongiwe ‘Vivane’ Hlatjwako has urged Imbali to return home from the Reed Dance Ceremony with a renewed commitment to their education, stressing that their studies remain important in shaping their future.

Hlatjwako made the call as the final leg of the Reed Dance Ceremony at Mbangweni Royal Residence in the Shiselweni Region came to an end over the weekend.

Addressing Imbali during the closing of the ceremony, Hlatjwako reminded the young women that their participation in the cultural event should not take their attention away from their education.

She told the maidens that education remains key to building a bright future and encouraged them to take their studies seriously once they return to their respective homes.

The Indvuna’s message came as Imbali prepared to leave Mbangweni Royal Residence following their participation in the final leg of this year’s Reed Dance.

Hlatjwako encouraged the maidens to maintain their focus on their studies after the ceremony, highlighting education as an important foundation for their future.

She placed emphasis on the responsibilities that await Imbali beyond the cultural proceedings, with the young women expected to return to their normal routines and continue with their education.

The final leg brought together Imbali from different chiefdoms, who gathered at Mbangweni Royal Residence to participate in the annual ceremony.

As the proceedings drew to a close, Hlatjwako also thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the ceremony.

Before departing, Imbali also received parting gifts from His Majesty King Mswati III. The gifts included sneakers, bread, drinks, biscuits and other items, which were received with appreciation by the maidens.
