Two years after the shooting of three members of the Inner Council of Luyengweni on September 7, 2020, the former Minister of Public Works and Transport Ntuthuko Dlamini has been found guilty of the murder of the trio.
On the day of the shooting, a video surfaced showing how Dlamini shot the inner council members following a heated disagreement. The video was further played in court on September 12, 2022, showing the minister gunning down the inner council members.
The former minister was accused of shooting to death Sikhulu Shongwe, a retired police officer, Themba Tsabedze and Simon Dlamini who were members of the inner council for Luyengweni Royal Kraal. The former minister had pleaded not guilty to all three charges of murder and one of contravening the Arms and Ammunition Act.
He further apologised to the families of the three men he has been found guilty of killing and extended his apology to the nation. The former minister has also previously mentioned in court how he was regretful over the incident, while a witness presented by the state detailed that the former minister bragged about the incident.
The former minister is yet to be sentenced and the matter was before Judge Maxine Langwenya.
