Caleb Ngwenya is the new Mbabane Swallows Coach. He was unveiled on Thursday alongside their former player and Physical Trainer Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini, who quit Nsingizini Hotspurs last week.
Ngwenya, who left MTN National First Division League side Ezulwini United was handed a two-year contract to try and change the club’s fortunes. He takes over from Musa Manyatsi who had a short spell on the sidelines having taken over from Ghanian Christopher Ennin at the end of the 2021/ 22 season.
Manyatsi was released alongside physical trainer Siyabonga Bhembe. A source close to the matter said Ngwenya is set to earn about E25 000 monthly, and he was given a two-year contract with an option of a year extension if results are positive.
Ngwenya takes over after Swallows lost 2-1 against rivals Mbabane Highlanders in the Derby on December 18 at the Mavuso Sports Centre. Highlanders have been dominant over the Birds in the past five years and that is a hard pill hard to swallow for the ‘Birds’ family.
Ngwenya said he was ready for the challenge, and he hopes to bring happier times to the club that was once the powerhouse of the country reaching the CAF inter clubs competitions; being the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup group stages five years ago.
The new technical bench’s first game in charge will be against Manzini Wanderers on 7 January 2023 at the Mavuso Sports Ground.
