A man arrested for stealing a gun and shooting another has had his bail application extended to May. This was the third time the application was extended.
Charged with four counts, including attempted murder, the accused person Mancoba Mcegane Khoza (28) of the Jubukweni area had his bail application postponed by the crown.
On September 13, 2022, Khoza was arrested after he was found in possession of a firearm and three live rounds without a license or permit. He was charged with two counts of contravening Section 11 (1) and (2) of the Arms and Ammunition Act 24/1964.
He reportedly stole the firearm valued at E18 000 from Lawrence Dube in the Ngwenya area KaNgini on September 3, 2022, birthing a theft charge.
On the same day, he proceeded to shoot a man identified as Sive Shongwe once on the right leg inflicting near fatal wounds, which he reportedly nearly died due to excessive bleeding. This resulted in the attempted murder charge.
He is set to return to court on May 31.
