Former Mbabane Highlanders dribbling wizard, Tshepo ‘Skhwama’ Matete has bounced back to money-spinning South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) after being unveiled by Chippa United on Wednesday.
Matete played for Highlanders in the 2020/2021 season but was released by the Capital City giants after failing to make an impact. He then moved to Botswana’s Township Rollers where he also had a short stint before migrating back to South Africa to play for the National First Division side, Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

Matete, known for his skills and technique, started training with Chippa United in December and he has impressed the Eastern Cape-based side’s coach, Morgan Mammila.
According to South Africa’s Soccer Laduma website, Matete has signed a one-year contract with Chippa United which will see him reunite with Mammila who was at Baroka when he signed in 2005 from the amateur clubs in Katlehong.
The 31-year-old showboat master has spent his career moving between professional football and the amateur ranks.
