The Joint Negotiations Forum (JNF) between government and public sector unions (PSUs) scheduled for Friday has been postponed.
The PSUs are a collection of associations representing civil servants in the various sectors, namely, the National Public Service and Allied Workers Union (NAPSAWU), Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT), Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union (SWADNU) and Swaziland National Association of Government Accounting Personnel (SNAGAP).
The PSUs are currently engaging with the employer (government) on issues of mutual interest such as the pending salary review and appeals. In a memorandum issued by the Ministry of Public Service, it requested the postponement of the JNF meeting scheduled for Friday due to the non-availability of the Government Negotiation Team (GNT).
“It is therefore proposed that the meeting be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the ministry conference room,” reads part of the memorandum.
Following the latest developments, the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) expressed concern on its social media page. The association said its members remained equally frustrated that the government keeps postponing the JNF.
