Serial thief refuses to move bail application

A man arrested for a string of theft cases for stealing clothes has refused to apply for bail when allowed to do so.

Facing three counts of theft, the accused person Majaha Aranto (29) of the Msunduza area told the court he would not be moving a bail application when asked by the court.

Aranto was arrested last month and charged with offences he allegedly committed dating back to September last year which were all reportedly committed at Eextension 3 in, Mbabane.

On September 11, 2022, he allegedly stole E1 300 worth of items belonging to Nkululeko Hlophe. These included a pink blanket, black and white Adidas flops, a carpet, and a broom.

On December 11, 2022, he reportedly stole items valued at E2 080 belonging to Seluleko Mabaso. These included All-Star sneakers, Adidas flops, and a pair of green Red X shorts.

His last theft offence which reportedly resulted in his arrest was committed on January 26 where he allegedly stole E3 200 worth of items from Balingeni Tsabedze. Amongst these were a black Hemisphere jersey, Redbat short jeans, camouflage All-star sneakers, a Grey Underarmour jacket, a black Hemisphere tracksuit, and a green Greywolf t-shirt.

Appearing before Magistrate Lenhle Zulu, the crown applied that Aranto is remanded back into custody, however, bail was not opposed, to which he said he did not intend to move an application.

He is set to return to court on February 10, pending trial on February 28.
