Wanderers’ third win eases relegation worries

By Lwazi Dlamini
(At the Prince of Wales Sports Ground)

A 73rd minute goal by second-half substitute Njabulo ‘Koko’ Gama steered Manzini Wanderers to a third victory in a row which lifted the hub giants to 11th position on the log standings.

Gama, a former winger for the defunct Tinyosi, came off the bench to finish a cross by Majahesibili ‘Giggs’ Ndlovu, sending the travelling motley group of Wanderers into delirium.

The ‘Weslians’ now have 14 points from 14 games, just one point behind Royal Leopard who earned a point after a goalless draw with Tambankulu Callies in the other fixture played today at the same venue.

Wanderers, besieged by financial challenges and an exodus of players, gave a good account of themselves to earn the precious three points against the league’s bottom loggers, Seven Dreams who have now lost their third game in a row.

Wanderers have won three games at the Prince of Wales in a row against the very same Seven Dreams 2-1 on January 21, then Denver Sundowns 1-0 last Saturday and then Seven Dreams 1-0 today.

TODAY’S RESULTS:

Seven Dreams 0 Manzini Wanderers 1
Royal Leopard 0 Tambankulu Callies 0
