Uphill battle for Nsingizini Hotspurs as inform Swallows circles over them

By Lwazi Dlamini

From the frying pan to the blazing fire! This could be true for struggling Nsingizini Hotspurs who face in-form Mbabane Swallows on Sunday against the backdrop of a seven-match winless streak which stretches as way back as December 4, 2022.

The eagerly awaited clash is set for Sunday at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium at 3 pm. Ironically Nsingizini Hotspurs’ last win, a 2-1 victory, was over the same team at Mavuso Sports Centre when Mayibongwe Mabuza’s goal on the stroke of halftime cancelled a 16th-minute goal by Swallows’ Ugandan import Bashir Mutanda before Mancoba Vilakati scored the winner six minutes before full-time.

Nsingizini Hotspurs lost 0-1 to another top Mbabane side, Highlanders at the same stadium last Sunday when South African international Tony ‘Ben 10’ Muchacha toe-poked the ball home two minutes before full-time to break the hearts of the home fans.

According to the ‘WEEK 16’ fixture programme released by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager Petros Vilakati, a must-watch doubleheader is slated for Mhlume Stadium on Saturday.

Manzini Wanderers will host Tambuti FC at 1 pm before title-chasing Young Buffaloes take on unpredictable Moneni Pirates in the main match at 3 pm. Mbabane Highlanders will kick off this week’s fixtures with a clash against bottom-loggers Seven Dreams at Ka-Langa Technical Centre on Friday at 3:30 pm.
