Buffalo and Celtics were crowned champions of the Eswatini Network of Women Sigwe Netball tournament after a sterling performance on Saturday.

Buffalo beat Lompala 35-27 in the highly contested match. Celtics beat JB Ladies 31-17. The finals were watched by over 5 000 people who graced the E100 000 sponsored tournament from EWN and Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Pholile Shakantu who was present accompanied by Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development who is also Sigwe Member of Parliament David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala and Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini.

Buffalo captain Ncobile Dlamini said they were happy winning the tournament as they have been training hard ahead of the finals.

“We are proud of ourselves. We worked hard ahead of the finals and I believe we deserve to win. We hope that the sponsorship continues next year and that will give us a chance to defend the title,” she said.

Sigwe MP David Ngcamphalala congratulated the winners.

“The winners deserve to be crowned champions as they worked hard and we urge those who did not win today to go back and try again. It was a good tournament and people came in their numbers,” he said.

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Pholile Shakantu said it is important to support women especially those in rural areas.
