Prime Minister Russell Dlamini is urging local writers to take the initiative to write books that teach about Eswatini’s culture and traditions.
In an interview with the media, while weeding Mfabantfu Royal field, the PM said such books were important to equip many about how things are done in Eswatini, which he said would have to be easily available to all.
“As a country, we need to encourage writers to write about the culture of Eswatini, because it is something we have seen to be lacking. Therefore, we urge that these books be written and be further used as learning materials even in schools to have the younger generation grow with this knowledge and proper understanding of their country,” he said.

He said these books need to be available on all platforms as soft and hard copies and easily accessible to all for learning about the country’s culture and traditions which is important.
Dlamini said as a nation, emaSwati also needs to adopt the culture of reading so they can be informed.
“When you lack information, you end up talking a lot and mostly nothing, whereas when you read books, you get experience of those before you, thus no longer making similar mistakes. We therefore encourage that emaSwati teach themselves to read and there are better ways that allow for one to read conveniently even if they are not used to doing so,” he said.
The PM further encouraged the nation to equip itself by reading locally written books and those from within the region.
This he said will allow emaSwati to familiarise themselves with the country’s cultures and traditions and further understand the operations of other countries as well.
