Due to the rising multifaceted challenges faced by educators, the Nhlangano AIDS Training Information and Counseling Center (NATICC) on Friday took an applaudable step by participating in a teacher’s workshop organized by the Dwaleni Cluster.
Comprising seven Primary Schools nestled in the Shiselweni Region, the cluster’s educators convened to tackle the aftermath of the previous year’s academic outcomes and confront the array of challenges permeating both their professional and personal spheres.

At the heart of the workshop, NATICC positioned itself as a catalyst for change, offering invaluable self-improvement skills to the attending teachers.
Central to their approach was the concept of emotional intelligence (EI), recognized as a cornerstone in navigating the often tumultuous landscape of human emotions.
Through interactive sessions and engaging discussions, educators were equipped with the tools and insights necessary to cultivate and harness EI as a pivotal asset in their daily lives.
The workshop discussions delved into the intricacies of stress management, shedding light on the various types of stress, its telltale indicators, underlying causes, and, most importantly, effective coping mechanisms. NATICC cited the importance of proactively addressing stressors while fostering resilience and emotional well-being among educators.
Gracing the workshop was the Deputy Regional Education Officer (DREO), Gugu Dlamini. In her remarks, Dlamini lauded the initiative undertaken by NATICC, acknowledging the invaluable contribution of emotional intelligence training in enhancing the overall well-being and performance of teachers.
She emphasized that the knowledge gleaned from the session would empower educators to navigate the intricacies of their professional and personal lives with increased adeptness and efficacy.
Furthermore, Dlamini highlighted the pivotal role of educators in shaping the future generation, highlighting the importance of fostering a positive outlook towards the teaching profession.

She stressed the significance of continuous self-improvement and the acquisition of essential skills and knowledge, equipping teachers with the resilience and adaptability needed to thrive in an ever-evolving educational landscape.
NATICC is an organization funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation and Norwegian Church Aid. NATICC comprises a team of well-trained HIV/AIDS educators and counsellors.
Its centre is based at the Bethesda Mission Station in Nhlangano, but NATICC reaches out to the whole of the Shiselweni Region. NATICC is the Voluntary Counseling & Testing (VCT) Centre for Nhlangano.
