The Magistrate Court in Mbabane has seen an increase in the number of teenage boys arrested for rape.
In the month of August, there were over six cases of rape in which the accused were boys aged 17-19.
In one case a 19-year-old teenager from Magwanyana has been arrested in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old female minor.
*Mpilo appeared before Magistrate Lungile Shongwe and was charged for contravening Section 3 (1), 3 (2), and 3 (3) (c) as read with Section 3 (9) (b) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act No. 15 of 2018.

The accused is said to have on August 8, 2024, while at Magwanyana, unlawfully committed a sexual act on *Zee
According to the charge sheet, the offence was accompanied by aggravating factors as envisaged by Section 185 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act No. 67 of 1938, in that the complainant is a minor and the accused person did not use protection, thereby exposing the survivor to sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV and AIDS.
The Crown moved an application that the accused person be remanded in custody until August 19, 2024, pending the committal of the case to the High Court.

A young boy from Ezulwini Ngcobingweni has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl repeatedly.
The accused person was charged with the offence of contravening sections 3(1), 3(2), 3(3) (c) as read with section 3(9) (b) of the sexual offences and Domestic Violence Act 15/2018.
In that upon or about the year 2021 at or near Ngcobingweni area in the district of Hhohho the accused person did wrongfully and unlawfully have sexual intercourse by inserting his private in *Sihle’s private parts 16 years several times without a condom and did thereby contravene the said Act.

The Crown urged the Magistrate, to take note that this offence was accompanied by aggravating factors as envisaged in section 185 bis of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act 67/1938 in that:
The accused person did not use a condom, thus exposing the victim to the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections, including HIV and AIDS.
“The victim is a minor being under the age of 18 years,” said The Crown. The accused person was remanded in custody until August 23, 2024.
