To creatively address the challenges experienced by African farmers, the Tintfungo Consortium, a company established by former Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 11th Parliament, has embarked on a business venture to provide drones to farmers.

Specifically, they are targeting sugar cane farmers, offering drone spraying services for their crops for a fee.

Tintfungo Consortium is an investment company established and registered by former members of the 11th Parliament.

Its goal is to reverse the misfortunes of ex-legislators and create wealth for them and the African continent.

The Executive Chairman of the company, which has been incorporated as a consortium with the registrar of companies, is former Ndzingeni Member of Parliament Lutfo Dlamini.

Additionally, former Mandlangempisi Member of Parliament Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo serves as the Business Development Director.

According to Dlamini, Tintfungo Consortium is a big commercial company formed by 25 former MPs, who were part of the 11th Parliament, who pulled their gratuity together and established the company.

He pointed out that the company has an office in Tshaneni and a satellite office in Manzini.

He mentioned that recently, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a South African company for the drone partnership.

“Sugar cane farmers can now contact us for a very cost-effective and efficient agricultural spraying option,” he said.

According to Dlamini, the latest technology of using drones in spraying crops was cheaper, better and an environmentally safe option as farmers did not need to spray over the environment as aeroplanes did.

He mentioned that Tintfungo Consortium was looking for companies in need of drone spraying.

“We have access to registered licences drones and drone operators,” he said.

He said that the Tintfungo Consortium believed that entrepreneurs and emerging businesses were the drivers of the economy.

He pointed out that there was an obvious gap between what traditional financial institutions were offering and what the government was driving for the sector.

Dlamini said they were on a mission to positively change the African economy, one Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME’s) at a time as well as to inspire and develop the entrepreneurs of tomorrow and keep human connection at the heart of commerce.

When unpacking their vision, Dlamini said they exist to innovatively respond to Africa’s challenges and to make her a global competitor every day and a lovely place to live for its people.
