His Majesty has urged countries to intensify efforts to become food self-sufficient.
He encouraged countries with surplus produce to upscale exports to needy countries, particularly those without financial resources and praised those that have signed trade agreements that promote the exchange of agricultural goods at minimal tariffs.

He said this helps the poorer nations to grow their food industries and utilise the limited resources to meet other national needs.
The King highlighted the need to use soil experts and scientists to determine suitable crops, enhancing the diversity of produce that can be shared or exchanged among different countries.
The theme of the forum is “Good food for all, for today and tomorrow.” To achieve this, the King said, the availability of proper infrastructure was imperative.

“As we look at developing our food products, this will not be possible without the enabling infrastructure, such as roads, warehouses and ICT, to mention a few.
These will facilitate the easy transportation of produce from the field to its intended destination, he stated.
