The Ministry of Education and Training has granted teachers permission to attend the 2024 World Teachers’ Day (WTD) Commemoration, organized by the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT).
The celebration will take place on Friday, 25 October 2024, at the Mavuso Exhibition Centre.
The announcement was shared on SNAT’s official Facebook page, confirming that the Ministry has formally endorsed the event.

In a letter addressed to Regional Education Officers (REOs) and school principals, the Ministry’s Acting Principal Secretary, Naniki Mnisi, outlined the terms for teacher participation.
The letter states, “The Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) has been given permission by the Ministry to host the 2024 Teachers’ Day on 25th October. On this day, teachers are allowed to attend, but ongoing school programmes, such as examinations, must not be disrupted.
Teachers involved in such programmes, as organized by the school or the Ministry, are required to be available to perform their duties.
This will ensure that schools continue to function properly. Please do allow concerned teachers to attend the event. Thanking you in advance for your usual cooperation.”
This directive emphasizes the importance of balancing participation in the celebration with maintaining the smooth running of academic activities.
Teachers across the country are expected to join in the commemoration which celebrates the contributions of educators to the development of the nation, while schools ensure minimal disruption to critical activities like exams.

The World Teachers’ Day celebration serves as a platform to recognize teachers’ dedication and efforts in shaping society through education.
One teacher who commented anonymously, expressed appreciation for the event, saying, “This is a good gathering for teachers to convene, share ideas, and celebrate the work we do.
I salute the government for its continued support of the teaching profession. It’s important for educators to feel recognized, and events like these motivate us to keep going despite the challenges we face.”
