Police have launched an investigation into an attempted murder case after a 41-year-old man was brutally assaulted during an altercation at a local bar in the Madvubeni area, leaving him with serious head and facial injuries.
The violent incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, July 11, 2026, at around 2 am, and has once again highlighted the dang
ers of alcohol-fuelled disputes that escalate into serious acts of violence.
According to information released by the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), the victim was allegedly attacked with a hard object several times on the head and lower face during the confrontation.
The injuries sustained were so severe that the man had to be rushed to the hospital, where he remains admitted and is receiving medical treatment.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the assault stemmed from what initially appeared to be a minor disagreement involving alcoholic drinks.
It is alleged that the victim took a drink belonging to two men who were also at the establishment before accidentally spilling it on them.

The incident reportedly angered the two suspects, leading to a heated confrontation that quickly turned violent.
Investigators believe the suspects repeatedly struck the victim with a hard object, inflicting life-threatening injuries before fleeing the scene.
The two suspects, who are known to police but whose identities have not yet been publicly released, reportedly escaped immediately after the assault.
Authorities said the suspects are not residents of the Madvubeni area.
Police have since opened an attempted murder docket and are continuing with investigations aimed at locating and apprehending the suspects.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service said investigators are following several leads and remain optimistic that those responsible will soon be brought before the courts.
