An eight-member delegation from Lesotho’s Ministry of Public Works has arrived in Eswatini for a week-long learning visit to strengthen regional cooperation and explore community-driven infrastructure development.
The delegation, led by Director General Teboho Mokhoane of Lesotho’s Roads Directorate,
was officially welcomed by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development through its Microprojects Programme during a courtesy visit with the Ministry’s Principal Secretary, Thabsile Mlangeni. 
The visit will provide the delegation with an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into how the Microprojects Programme,
in partnership with Engineers in Action (EIA), has transformed the lives of rural communities through the construction of safe and reliable suspension footbridges.
Beyond improving access to schools, health facilities and markets, the bridges have become symbols of connection, making it easier for families to reach essential services throughout the year.
Officials say the programme demonstrates how practical infrastructure can directly improve the quality of life for communities.
Throughout the week, the delegation will visit completed and ongoing bridge projects across the country, meet engineers and project teams and engage with community members who have experienced the impact of the initiative.
These interactions are expected to provide valuable lessons that Lesotho can adapt to its own infrastructure development projects.
The exchange also highlights the growing importance of regional collaboration, with both countries seeking practical solutions to common development challenges.
By sharing experiences and best practices, Eswatini and Lesotho hope to strengthen partnerships while promoting sustainable, community- centred infrastructure projects.
The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development said they are honoured to share Eswatini’s experiences and looks forward to meaningful discussions that will inspire innovative solutions and deepen cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
