More than 211 households in Mtfongwaneni Inkhundla are on course to receive clean,
safe and reliable drinking water through a Government-funded solar-powered water project,
with Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the lives of rural communities through sustainable infrastructure development. 
The Prime Minister made the remarks during an inspection tour of Government-funded projects in Mtfongwaneni Inkhundla, led by Member of Parliament Nathi ‘Mdockies’ Hlophe.
The Bulunga solar-powered water scheme was the first project visited during the tour and is expected to significantly improve access to potable water for hundreds of families once completed.
For many years, residents in the area have struggled with inconsistent access to clean water, forcing some households to travel long distances to fetch water for drinking, cooking and other domestic needs.
The new project is expected to change that reality by bringing a reliable water supply much closer to the community.
Powered entirely by solar energy, the scheme combines improved service delivery with renewable energy technology, ensuring a sustainable water supply while reducing dependence on conventional electricity.
The project reflects the government’s drive to invest in infrastructure that not only addresses immediate community needs but also promotes long-term environmental sustainability.
Prime Minister Dlamini said the government remained committed to ensuring that development reached every corner of the Kingdom, particularly rural communities where access to basic services remained a priority.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of work in the inkhundla and with the level of community cooperation observed during the tour.
He noted that the spirit of unity in Mtfongwaneni was creating an enabling environment for the government to deliver projects.
According to the Prime Minister, reflection on the developments witnessed during the tour reaffirmed that lasting progress depends on peace and stability.
He stated that development thrives in communities where people live in harmony and commended residents of Mtfongwaneni for preserving the peace the area is known for.
He further emphasised that peace was the greatest contribution citizens could make toward national development and reiterated His Majesty’s call for emaSwati to live together in harmony, noting that conflict and instability undermine development efforts.
The PM used the engagement to restate key Government commitments.
He said the government remains committed to ensuring that every household has access to clean water by 2030, that healthcare services continue to improve,
that food security is strengthened and that every able-bodied liSwati has an opportunity to earn a living and support their family.
The Prime Minister said these priorities are being driven through the Nkwe Programme of Action, which focuses on practical interventions aimed at improving the daily lives of citizens.
He noted that the programme provides the framework for planning, implementation and monitoring of projects at constituency level.
