The Great Nation is taking shape with a four-man technical bench expected to take charge.
The Great Nation is the new Mbabane Eagles United, formerly Amawele FC. The latter have sold their elite status to former Mbabane Highlanders South African director Chief Ally ‘The Great’ Kgomongwe for a reported E550,000 fee.
With the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup 2026 edging closer, it can be reported with authority that Kgomongwe has in principle agreed to hand technical bench powers to former Ezulwini United coaches, with Mphumelelo ‘Mapho’ Ngwenya as head coach. 
His assistant will be Christian Thwala, who also had a spell with Manzini Wanderers.
The duo worked as a combo at then Tinyosi, now Ezulwini United, as per their latest expected pairing.
For the physical trainer, Eswatini and SA Kaizer Chiefs legend Sibusiso ‘Spoko’ Dlamini has been approached.
Former Highlanders and Royal Leopard goalkeeper Thokozani ‘Beetle’ Mamba is for the goalkeeper coach position.
It is understood they were yet to formalise by signing on the dotted line, which will happen while they work as of this Tuesday.
Information gathered by this publication is that Thwala was tasked by Kgomongwe to put the technical team together.
“It’s true, and I had to look for people I know I can work with. Mapho is someone I worked with at Tinyosi, and I also know Spoko a lot,” responded Thwala when reached over the news.
He also affirmed they will resume training at Prince of Wales Sports Ground, Mbabane on Tuesday, August 11.
“We had new training equipment bought for us on Saturday, where we were to get it sorted,” said Thwala, who said good money was spent, but it was way better than buying locally.
Nonetheless, Spoko had not responded on the matter at the time he was sought. Kgomongwe also confirmed the technical bench he was starting his new project with.
“Our head coach is from Ezulwini United. I’ve already bought the team quality training equipment valued at over E70k.
“There’s a lot to be done, but training starts tomorrow (Tuesday), and we’ll soon spice it up with valuable foreign players to boost the locals,” he said.
Kgomongwe said they were also working on having their own Facebook page as opposed to using the Amawele one for willing supporters to follow and get the latest team updates. A website was also in their plans.
At the moment, it remains to be seen if their name change will come to pass. Their first official match will be against Manzini Sea Birds in the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup 2026.
