PLE calls an urgent meeting for team doctors

As if responding to the untimely death of South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, Richards Bay FC captain, Siphamandla Mtolo at training on Tuesday, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has called team doctors to a meeting slated for March 18.

Mtolo, whose last game was on Saturday against Kaizer Chiefs, collapsed and died in training. The club said it could not divulge further details or the medical reason for the shock death of the 29-year-old footballer.

The Premier League of Eswatini, in a press statement, stated that the meeting will cover feedback on medical services/action items, Anti-doping regulations, Covid-19 and a match reporting tool.

The meeting will be chaired by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Medical Committee. Also, the PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya announced that a Referee’s workshop will be held on March 25.

“This meeting will discuss the most common injuries and management of concussions,” Makhanya said.
