In a devastating turn of events on the evening of 20/08/2024, tragedy struck along the Mbabane/Manzini Highway, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
The incident occurred at 1815 hours in the Mnyamatsini area on Road MR3 Manzini lane, involving a Mitsubishi Triton double cab driven by a 47-year-old man from the Somnjalose area.
According to reports by REPS Police Information and Communication Officer Senior Superintendent, Phindile Vilakati, the driver of the Mitsubishi Triton encountered a dead stray cow on the roadway.

In a harrowing chain of events, attempting to avoid the animal led to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The double cab veered off the road and tragically careened into a valley.
Tragically, a 41-year-old man from Lavumisa was a passenger in the back of the Mitsubishi Triton.
As the vehicle swerved and ultimately crashed, the passenger was thrown from the vehicle, sustaining severe head injuries upon impact.
Emergency services swiftly transported the critically injured individual to the Mbabane Government Hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the passenger was declared deceased upon arrival.
Furthermore, the driver, as well as another passenger, a 56-year-old man from the Somnjalose area, also suffered injuries in the incident.
Both individuals were promptly taken to the Mbabane Government Hospital for necessary medical attention.
The driver is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, while the other passenger has since been discharged after receiving medical care.

It should be noted that this unfortunate accident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability and dangers present on our roads.
